So I bought a new one...

 

Yup, my old PC was getting so bad I couldn't even access IE properly. It hogged so much resources the PC was running at a crawl...

 

So, adding toghether the bonus I received from work to the money I'd saved already, I went out and bought a new one. And what a relief! I can actually multitask again! Multiple applications running all at the same time with no perceptable slowdown in performance... HEAVEN!

 

I've even managed to get the old monitor I'd been given to work with this PC. The monitor is flatscreen (and a little faulty - can't access the menu or turn it off without unplugging it at the back) but the picture is a thousand times better than that Mr Magoo-inspired piece of trash I was forced to use.

 

My wife has now got the old computer - cleaned out and rebooted to the factory spec (still slow though). It will satsify her needs - she doesn't require the spec I do (except when she wants to play Sims 2 + addons - she uses my PC when I'm not here for that). When I can get hold of an extra wireless reciever I can set her up on the net as well and we can connect the two together.

 

What a xmas present!

 

On a sadder note: it's now Thursday the 3rd and work has already restarted (yesterday). I booked a few extra days off out of my floating allotment so I don't personally go back till Monday. How the hell does the holiday fly by so quickly? Gonna have to readjust my sleeping pattern to suit the 7.30 start (currently the time I'm going to bed!).

ZOMG! ZOMG! ZOMG! ZOMG!

 

My wife and I went ot our first concert on Thursday night at the Manchester Academy. We went to see a Dutch band called Within Temptation, one of our favourite bands.

 

What a concert. The place was bouncing from start to finish. They were absolutely fantastic. The warm up band (The 69 Eyes from Helsinki, Finland) were pretty good too - must look out for some stuff done by them).

 

We queued up for over an hour and a half in the freezing cold but it was worth it. :D

 

Can't wait for April now when our second concert looms: Nightwish! Can't wait!

It's been a while since I last updated this. I really should come on here more often, but I'm a man of too much to do and nowhere near enough time to do it!

Since my attention got drawn to this place again by some e-mails reminding me it existed I thought I'd at least update with something or other.

 

So I thought I'd update with details of the forums I'm involved with at the moment.

 

First off is my own place which, frankly, is as dead as a dodo currently. I just haven't had much time to work on it and to get it where I want it to get to so the odd times that people turn up it gets a few posts then dies again. I really need to get a number of people there at once to kick start it into life. It's a pity I had to start over when I lost the password to the database (I'm still convinced I didn't forget it but there was a problem at the server end) when trying to update it. I lost the posts of a lot of members that day and very, very few chose to rejoin the new place. :(

I have a homepage at http://www.guts.me.uk but I only had a chance to mess with that and need to re do that from the start. The javascript is nice but the application is amateurish at best!

 

GUTS! is an amalgamation of three sites I used to run, and is still split into three distinct areas. The Quill and Scroll is a poetry and writing area where members can discuss not only their own work but published stuff as well. The Wyrmhole is an area for fantasy, sci-fi and horror worlds (although I'm not really keen to have too much horror there). Dice of Destiny is an area for dice-based roleplaying games (mainly) of all genres.

 

Anyone feel free to join and kick start the place to greatness!

 

Another site I'm involved with on an administrative level is a great little fantasy site called faerunrp.com. It's a free form roleplaying site which means you don't roll dice but just create stories between you.

My sister was away in Blackpool overnight so I borrowed my nephew's Wii... boy was that a mistake! After a couple of hours swinging recklessly hitting golf balls, tennis balls, base balls and whatever other balls where flying around my arm was ready for falling off. When I woke up this morning I was as stiff as hell.

 

The missus asked me if I wanted one. If she'd have asked last night I might have said yes but since she asked today the answer was a resounding no! I like my body in one piece and unaching thank-you-very-much. I'm getting much too old for all that running around crap...
